In 2020, Eden Kaya’s life was forever changed. His beloved wife, Sarah Kaya, succumbed to breast cancer at the age of 60 after a courageous battle with the disease. Sarah was not only Eden’s partner but his anchor, a woman of strength and boundless compassion. She faced her diagnosis with grace, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and a spirit that inspired everyone who knew her.
During her battle, Eden witnessed the profound impact of breast cancer—not just on Sarah but on their family, friends, and community. He came face to face with the emotional, physical, and financial toll that this disease exacts on countless lives. At the same time, Eden, a lifelong advocate for environmental sustainability, was deeply troubled by the mounting threats of climate change, which Sarah had also been passionate about. She often spoke about leaving a better world for future generations, and her dream of making a difference became Eden’s mission after her passing.
The Turning Point: From Grief to Action
Sarah’s passing marked the darkest chapter in Eden’s life, but it also sparked a transformative journey. In his grief, Eden found clarity and purpose. He resolved to honor Sarah’s memory by addressing two of the most pressing challenges of our time: breast cancer and climate change.
Eden channeled his pain into a vision—to create a foundation that would not only save lives but also preserve the planet. With decades of experience in renewable energy as the founder of Renewable Ergon, Eden was uniquely positioned to take action. He combined his expertise in sustainability with a heartfelt commitment to advancing breast cancer research, creating the Eden Kaya Foundation.
